Introduction

XI Training offers 4 specialist Access and Rescue courses, designed specifically for the warehouse sector.

Our courses provide experience and training in working at height for a range of VNA and warehouse access situations, including rescue of injured or incapacitated casualties from ladders, platforms or in-house racking systems.

Courses 3 and 4 are specifically tailored for personnel using VNA trucks, where there is a requirement to work outside the cab area and conduct a similar rescue operation from a warehouse vehicle to a safe location.

Courses are delivered in the first instance over 1 day; thereafter, certification renewal is required at the stated intervals and will be delivered on a half day basis (until 3rd year certificate renewal).


Course 1 Overview: Warehouse Access

This training course is designed for delegates requiring access on fixed ladders as well as access to racking and storage areas at height.

Course 2 Overview: Rescue from Height

This training course is designed for delegates requiring rescue capability from ladders or in house racking systems where there is a requirement to evacuate or rescue a casualty height.

Course 3 Overview: VNA Access – Cab Area

This training course is designed for delegates requiring access on VNA trucks or lifts where there is a requirement to inspect or maintain the machine at height.

Course 4 Overview: VNA Rescue – Cab Area

This training course is designed for delegates requiring rescue capability from VNA trucks or lifts where there is a requirement to evacuate or rescue a casualty height.

  • Understanding the Work at Height Regulation 2005
  • Identifying hazards and assessing risks (for rescue)
  • PPE selection and use for access and working at height (and rescue)
  • PPE inspection for daily use
  • Selecting and creating anchors for fall arrest (for rescue)
  • Using fall arrest lanyards to access structures and equipment
  • Using inertia reels and temporary fall arrest systems
  • Work positioning equipment and use and safe working systems at height
  • PPE selection and use for access and working at height and rescue
  • Types of rescue equipment and uses
  • Practical rescue scenarios from VNA including lowering rescue techniques
  • Appreciation of suspension intolerance
  • Health and safety requirements for rescue
  • Types of rescue equipment and uses for lowering and raising casualties
  • Practical rescue scenarios from ladders and racking locations, including lowering and raising rescue techniques

Delegates will need to bring their own PPE with valid inspection records. Additional PPE and climbing kit will be provided where necessary and as part of the course delivery.
