The new Energy and Utility Skills Registration scheme commenced in the New Year of 2020 and XI Training can confirm that it has completed the approval process and will deliver the MATS Tower Climb and Rescue scheme (3 day initial and 1 day annual revalidation courses) from 2nd January 2020.

A number of changes have been made to both of the MATS courses have been made including both written and practical tests – EUSR information can be viewed here.

In addition, training providers now have to implement a £30 delegate registration and certification fee for each delegate/ course delivered from 1st January 2020 onwards. Each delegate who passes the course will have a card and certificate provided by EUSR, who will maintain a publicly available database of all riggers registered on the scheme.

Currently in date climb and rescue valid certs will have 12 months to renew as before; at that point they will need to attend a registered provider (hopefully XI) to renew their certificates, under the new framework.

The EUSR course information sheet can be viewed here.
